I had worked on a previous file of this drawing that had gotten devoured (Corrupted) by the evils of Photoshop and I never backed it up (Foolish me!), and the matter of retrieving or at least fixing the file was at 5% (My dad tried the best he could). And so it was lost forever and all I could do was start over from scratch, which didn’t take too long surprisingly. But anyways, it looks better than the original, though it practically looks identical to the old one as nothing’s really changed.
And I daren’t forget....HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEZZOI AND PEMZINI!!! For : Creating this for you was a great experience!! I wanted to try a different kind of gift, a fake movie poster for one of your respected works, and I chose Resolute. The idea of a story set through the eyes of a breed that could’ve gone extinct after the Russian Revolution and having them fight their OWN rebellion between wolf and hound (Is that how it goes?) sounds very interesting and captivating, and I find the characters to be very well-rounded and intriguing!
So, down to details..Writing the ‘credits’ were a little tricky... I didn’t want to leave a blank space, let alone just give anonymous titles/names, so I just labeled them as, well, as you see them here. And I of course, am shameful enough to shoehorn my own name in there, and I’m guilty of the act not only once, but three times *Geez what’s even wrong with me*. And you’re here too, , ‘cuz you too are awesomely awesome and I couldn’t resist including you <333 So I went to only credit the four of us (Though there is at least one other person credited; He worked on a Don Bluth film) ‘cuz I’m stupid and have no life at all and that I was too lazy to look up random or famous names xDD The credits are a joke already so...I suppose it doesn’t matter either way you look at it..? Considering all our careers revolve around film/or animation (Whether it be film, games or both), it would be crazy if I happened to come across you guys one day when my career is in motion (And hopefully my films are successful; uncertain they even will be), but I doubt that’ll ever happen... I question myself why I even have recurring dreams about this at night..It almost weirds me out. *I shouldn’t have said this...*
..Ummm... VOICE ACTORS It was hard selecting VAs that I thought were suitable for these characters. This is just how I see it, but I’m VERY positive you can find much better choices than the ones I wrote :3 I looked through each actor in a compilation video that was dedicated to the many distinctive voice work they provided for games, and whatever voice I caught that I imagined representing their nature and tone/pitch, I chose them (I noticed that all their surnames have the same initial...That’s... funny!). You can listen to the following videos here to draw your own conclusions:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXieEB… Troy Baker -Victor’s is that of the character Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden 3 (at 6:52). I thought it sounded close enough to how I imagined it. I always envisioned a young, slightly emotionally driven voice for him.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-rYgo… Laura Bailey – Volchitsa’s ‘voice’ I took from Kaine from Neir (at 10:04). But I’ll say this: I really don’t know much about Volchitsa as a whole, but the closest VA to voice her is Laura Bailey, I thought. Again; a youthful pitch, but also hard-hitting in its delivery.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WQGS2… Claudia Black – Voushka. What I’m looking for in a voice for Voushka is a slightly deep, mature and very vaguely ‘ancient’ voice, I guess (Though Claudia is Australian, but I’m positive she could pull of a Russian accent). My first thought was Gillian Anderson, who provided Moro’s voice from Princess Mononoke, but I wanted to choose actors who provided their voices for acting (That’s how I want to work when it comes to choosing actors; very few celebrities, but mostly using actual voice actors), so I figured Claudia’s voice for the character Chloe Frazer from the game Uncharted 2 and 3 (at 2:26—2:48) was closest to how I envisioned her. Not too old or too young, just balancing it out. I was also thinking Cate Blanchette, as well..
www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv_yGA… Steve Blum – Nikolai. I’m sure you know who he is for his voice of Darcia from Wolf’s Rain. I’ve loved Nikolai forever since I came across him, and for his voice, I heard it in my head as a little growly/shrill or something along those lines (But also slightly youthful), and I think Steve’s voice for Gene from Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (at 9:22--9:50) sealed the deal for me. I can just picture that somewhat slimy voice leaking out of him while circling and taunting or lecturing at Victor...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEjEmp… Crispin Freeman – Dragomir. Again, he was in Wolf’s Rain (as the voice of Tsume in the English dub). In my head, I heard a strong voice; powerful, deep and controlling, but still very calm and assured. I was also thinking Christopher Lee, so it’s kind of a tie between those two as of now I still can’t decide which is better (Plus Sir Christopher is a legend), I personally found the voice Freeman gave the character of King of Sparta/Bliss King in God of War: Ascension (3:34—3:50) to be a nice match. All it needs is just a little small drop of evil and it’ll be perfect.
So, there you have it...I hope you enjoy it, and have a great day of cake and celebration, you two! And last but not least - Enjoy the High Definition ;D
Re-adjusted a few minor details.
